FRESH EGGS AND POLITICS

Yesterday, I went to a neighbor (5 miles away) for my weekly fresh eggs. I mean FRESH like right out of the chicken. They are wonderful. I visit with P for an hour to an hour and a half each week about nice, quiet things like recipes, knitting and our families. Yesterday, H decided to go with me. I usually go over about 3 because I know P's husband is taking a nap. He is a nice enough man but I avoid him because he ALWAYS wants to talk about politics. I HATE to talk about politics and religion which is about all he knows how to talk about. Since H went with me, P got her husband up from his nap. I thought....well, it will be fine.....we aren't staying very long. D came in to the room with a friendly hello as usual and we all sat in the living room. We chit chatted for a while and all of a sudden D pulled a stack, and I mean stack, of 8x11 pages from the stand by his chair. He said......I want to read something to you.....I thought.....Uh Oh.....surely not.....but I was WRONG. He started reading all of the crap email that I get from different people about Iraq and Muslims and on and on and on.......and then he talked about how wonderful it was to grow up collecting scrap metal in the alley's to sell for candy and on and on and on.......I thought I was going to die. I delete, without reading, the emails that he was reading to us. I could feel my heart rate go up and my face turn red. H was so quiet and I was glad because he feels the same way that I do about NOT talking about politics to people whom you might offend. D proceeded to say things like we are fighting a war against Muslims. Excuse me?!!!!!! Then after an awful hour at least.....he got up and said.......I am going to read something to you out of the greatest book ever written........ I thought, Oh no he going to read the bible to us.......I stood up while he shuffled through his pile of books and he came up with a book that he ordered off of the internet that is being banned in Canada and he couldn't tell me why when I asked........all he knew about it was that if it is being banned....it must be a great book....for....you see.....he hasn't read it yet.....he just read the cover.....OH MY WORD....I couldn't get out of there soon enough...... In the meantime, P is saying.....D, don't talk about politics now......L and I don't talk about that stuff.....and D was saying.....It's ok, this stuff is interesting.........I finally made my way to the door and he followed us out..........I was exhausted by the time we got out of there....I told H that maybe he shouldn't go over again cause then P won't get D up from his nap.........He agreed.........I DON'T CARE WHAT PEOPLE THINK......I REALLY DON'T......BUT LEAVE ME ALONE..........
