PERKINS
My friend P and I just returned from Denver. We helped my oldest daughter move to an apartment of her own. She has had a roomie for 3 years and it was time to move on. My friend and I stayed at a motel not far from Mom's nursing home. Right across the parking lot is a Perkins restaurant. We love their breakfasts. The first morning we decided to have breakfast there and then go to my daughter's place to start the move. We talked and talked about the move while we ate. The next morning we ate a late breakfast at Perkins again. After we ordered, we were hashing over the previous day's events. All of a sudden, a perfect stranger came to our table. He was about my age I think. He grabbed my hand and put his other hand on my shoulder and said, "We were wondering how things went yesterday for you with moving your daughter to a new place." I was stunned. I looked at P and she was stunned. I looked back at him and he said, "My friend and I were sitting across the isle from you yesterday and we were intriqued with the big day you were going to have." "How did everything go?" "Is your daughter all settled in?" He was so nice. I do remember them sitting across from us and they did look over alot but we just ignored them. I didn't even look to see what they looked like. I filled him in on the day's activities and he was genuinely happy to hear that everything went well. It was so cute. He said, "We were wondering all evening last evening how things went for you." I couldn't believe it. He kept patting me on the back and squeezing my hand. P is always amazed when she is with me because things like that happen all the time. I don't know what it is.
